I grew up watching The Jetson’s. As a small child I dreamed about the day when each family would have a robot butler/maid. The moment I saw this article this is where my mind went- it shouted “it’s Rosie!” I then read further and saw that there really is a “Rosie”. Nestle has developed a humanoid robot, named Pepper, as their brand ambassador. Engaging with clients and having pleasant small talk with clients in the store. Pepper is supposedly the first robot to be endowed with emotions. Pepper’s emotional intuition is guided by complex voice and face reading technology! WOW!
Nestle is not the only one. Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Sea boasts their Bionic Bar, aptly named after the two robotic arms that take drink orders and make signature drinks on the spot.
